I heard about it from a friend who was also interested in joining. Then I read something in the Pocono Record and thought I'd check it out!
What helped you decide to join?
My mom has been playing the pipes since way before I was born, and I always thought they were cool. I asked her to teach me, and after a couple of lessons decided that the pipes just weren't my thing. Then I started really listening to her bagpiping tapes, and realized that there were drums in it too! They sounded so cool, and I begged Mom to find a band to teach me how to play. I fell in love with the snare right away and well- here I am today!
What are some of your fondest memories with the band?
I have so many great memories with this band; it's hard to pick just a couple. I'd have to say competing is definetly my favorite thing to do with the band, and I love marching in the St. Patty's Day parade in Jim Thorpe (it's always an entertaining experience). Other than that, just generally hanging out with all these cool people is a great time in itself!
What is/are your favorite Tune(s)?
Hmm... To listen to on the pipes? Jimmy Young. To play on the snare? High Road to Giarloch/ Mhairi's Wedding and whatever set I'm learning at the time.
How long have you played?
Since I was thirteen, so as of Sept. 2005, five fun-filled years!
What do you do outside of the band?
I like to read, ride my horses, write poetry, and listen to obnoxiously-loud music.
